Delete Your Account
You can delete your Autera account and your workshop data at any time, from inside the app or by emailing us. This page explains exactly how, what gets removed, and the few records the law requires us to keep.
1. Delete from inside Autera (fastest)
- Workshop owners. Open Autera on the web or the mobile app, go to Settings, and choose Delete account. After a confirmation step (because it cannot be undone) this permanently deletes your workshop and its data.
- Team members (technicians, advisors and other staff invited by an owner). You do not own the workshop account, so you cannot delete the whole workshop. To remove your own access and personal data, ask your workshop owner to remove you, or email us (see section 3) and we will delete your user record.
2. Request deletion by email
If you cannot reach the app, email privacy@getautera.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We may ask a question or two to confirm it is really you, to protect your data. We action verified deletion requests within 30 days and email you to confirm when it is done.
3. What gets deleted
When a workshop account is deleted we remove:
- Your workshop profile, branding and settings
- Your customer and vehicle records
- Jobs, quotes, invoices and bookings
- Uploaded documents, photos and certificates
- The login accounts of your team members
Product analytics tied to your account are deleted or anonymised. We do not sell your data and we never share it with advertisers.
4. What we have to keep, and for how long
A few things cannot be deleted straight away because the law requires us to keep them. These are access-restricted and are only ever used for the legal purpose they are held for:
- Financial and invoice records: kept for 6 years to meet HMRC requirements, then deleted.
- Encrypted backups: your data ages out of our rolling backups within the windows set out in our Privacy Policy (daily backups within 30 days, weekly and monthly within 12 months), after which it is gone for good.
- Security and audit logs: kept up to 3 years for fraud prevention and legal reasons.
5. Timeline
Deleting from inside the app removes your data from the live service immediately. It then ages out of the backup and legal-retention windows above before it is erased everywhere. Email requests are completed within 30 days.
