What gets migrated
We handle the heavy lifting. Here is exactly what transfers over.
How it works
Seven steps, most of which we do for you.
Tell us when you want to switch
Reply to the form below with your target go-live date. We typically need 2-3 working days notice so we can line up your migration slot.
Export your data from ServiceM8
In ServiceM8, go to Settings → Data Manager → Export. Download Clients, Jobs, Materials, and Vehicles as CSV files. The export takes around 5 minutes for most workshops.
Send the files to us
Email the CSVs to hello@getautera.com or upload them via the form below. We will confirm receipt within one business day and flag anything that needs your attention.
We import and reconcile
We map ServiceM8 fields to Autera fields, deduplicate customers, link vehicles to owners, and tag historic jobs by year. Most migrations finish within 24 hours of receiving the files.
You review on a sandbox account
Before cutover we send you a private review link so you can spot-check 10-20 imported records. Anything wrong, we fix it. No surprises on go-live day.
Cutover and parallel run
On go-live, your Autera account replaces ServiceM8 for new jobs. We recommend running both in parallel for the first week so technicians can finish in-flight ServiceM8 jobs without disruption.
You cancel ServiceM8 when ready
Once your team is comfortable on Autera (usually 1-2 weeks), cancel your ServiceM8 subscription. We do not pressure a hard cutover date, switch at your own pace.
What to expect, day by day
Most UK garages are fully on Autera within 10 days, with the actual data import done in 24 hours and a parallel-run window after that. Here is the typical shape.
You submit the form. We confirm your migration slot and send the CSV export checklist.
You export from ServiceM8 and send us the files. We acknowledge receipt the same day.
We import, deduplicate and reconcile your data. You receive a sandbox link to review.
You spot-check the import. We fix anything you flag. Go-live ready.
You run Autera and ServiceM8 side by side. Technicians get used to the new flow without losing in-flight jobs.
You cancel ServiceM8 when your team is comfortable. No fixed deadline.
You will not be left without a system
Switching workshop software sounds risky. It is not, if you do it right. We do not ask you to flick a switch. ServiceM8 stays online during the trial and the parallel-run period. Finish any in-flight ServiceM8 jobs there, start every new job in Autera, and once the last ServiceM8 job is closed, cancel it.
If something is missing or wrong after import, we fix it. If Autera is not for you, you cancel the trial and stay on ServiceM8 with no data lost. The 14-day Autera trial does not require a card, so the only thing you risk is a couple of hours of your week.
Most workshops are running on Autera the same day. No training course required.
